Sometimes, there’s really no “safe way” to approach life. If we don’t occasionally risk getting hurt, we’ll never learn from our mistakes and grow. Sometimes, the fire burns us. But if we’re lucky, it warms us too. I wrote this song when I was in a relationship that was doomed. The two of us were far too different with fundamental value systems that weren’t in alignment. But together, we created a warmth and a fire that had been missing from both of our lives. We never said it out loud, but we were making a deal with that fire. We needed to know how it felt.
